Default Way to turn off light in sun shade/visor ?

Have a 2 door 2000 chevy blazer....my sun visor has a vanity mirror on the back w/ two lights. The flipping cover has broken off both and i have them connected w/ rubber bands to make sure the lights stay off (saving battery). During summer time rubber bands break all the time.

Is there a fuse or someway to disable those vanity mirror lights on the visor permanently?

If you unscrew the base of the visor, you can pull the wiring through and disconnect it. I had the exact same problem which actually caused a dead battery once because I hadn't realized the cover had fallen off.

I guess you had success, so power doesn't still travel through that wiring? What did you do with the unhooked wiring?

Is there not a fuse for the light?

Well i didn't have the proper tool to unscrew the visor so i just basically pulled the vanity mirror out where i could see the wiring and clipped the wire.....so its a little ugly but the light is now off.

Thanks for the wiring tip, I unpluged the wire then removed the mirrors and had my sun visors redone at an Upholstery, looks great, blocks the sun and won't ever have to worry about a broken door or the visor catching on fire, dead battery, etc.
Just keeping it simple and stopping this problem from ever happening again.
