Default 2005 chevy tahoe transmission problems

Ok where to start I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe. Its been doing great until i got trans codes for the shift solenoids. The trasns would go in gear and drive fine but would rev to about 3000 to 4000 rpm in 1st gear i would let off throttle and ease back into it before it would shift. So I replaced the shift solenoids and I still have same issues but no codes. I did replace fluid and filter. When i get it to change out of 1st it seems to run fine. No slipping everything still feels stong and good throttle response. So somesom told me to try the speed sensor on back outside of trans. Still have same issues. Could any other solenoids in the trans cause this problem. I have thought about a master solenoid kit change to see if that would help. Its hard for me diagnose without trouble codes no check engine light. I anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated im new to this trans sensor solenoid stuff.

Welcome to the forum. From what you are describing I would say the transmission is skipping 2nd gear. What was the condition of the fluid that was drained out?

It seemed a little dark and a little metal sludge on the magnet, vehicle only has about 160,000 miles. I took it down the road the other day to see if I can get a better understanding on what's going on with it. I engaged the tow and it would never or felt like it didn't come out of 1st, but also felt like it went to 2nd with no power. Just want to try some simple sensor and solenoids or see if its worth it before I jerk out the transmission. But I figure my luck its going to changing out the transmission.

I would personally save my money on randomly throwing parts at it. Bad way to diagnose transmission problem.
if anything take it to get scanned with the proper software and maybe even do live data to see what’s being commanded and when. May not even be Transmission related, TPS, MAF, engine coolant sensor are just a couple things that have an effect on shift strategies.

Thanks for info getting a full diagnostic scan is next step before I go jerking transmission out. It started out showing trouble code for shift solenoids I replaced both A B and still having issues, hopefully its just something simple. Hard to find honest shops around here.

Give me a couple names of shops in your area and I’ll see if I know any shop owners. Shop owners and builders have a pretty strong brotherhood that help each other and are honest. You can PM me with information.
