Default 3.8 ford add oil cooler???

Ok...question for anyone interested...i know ford?!?!?!?

Anyway while assembling my swap would adding an oil cooler be worth it?
The new rad has ports for it..just have to get the "sandwich" plate and hoses.
now i know there are mixed feelings on here about them on our blazers.
So with that being said..go or no go on this.
The engine has 100k on it and i am doing all gaskets except heads.

So that the answers fly..thanks guys.

edit...this is for my 95 mustang that i have an 01 3.8l for

https://blazerforum.com/forum/builds...ongoose-64226/

should have said that.

On the Ford engine in a Chevy.. good to aggravate your relatives and friend chebby lovers ..BUT.. why arent you doing the head gaskets?!!! That's the ONLY weak point of the 3.8L. What's it out of? Just to be sure do the FelPro fix which includes trueing and microfinish of head surface

And since there's no real gain in your swap unless you are going full Ford PCM, still the oil cooler is just window dressing. But since it's easy to add, why the hell not.

always say if I won the Lottery, I'd buy a '57 Nomad and trick it out with the full powertrain and running gear from a Mark VIII LSC.
Then drive it to every freaking Friday and Saturday night cruise in within a hundred miles till I made my point.

Couldn't be worse than this old classic abomination. I'd forgotten about it.

Ok..shoulda clarified somethings...
the engine is an 01 for my 95 mustang which blew head gasket and had a major overheat.
So i am swapping in the 01 with 100k on it.
Right now its on the stand.
I am redoing all gaskets but head.
also adding starter alt and exhaust headers.
i have had several people tell me heads were fine on the 99-04 3.8l
So i am letting that go.
Sorry for the confusion...i have the stang in a build thread on here..should have linked it.
i started it here cause..well i like this forum better..and i know there is a lot of knowledge floating around here.

Thank you for responding pettyfog.

Well.. dont I feel the dumass!

but.. whew! I really dont think I'd put a 3.8 L in a blazer.. not a damn thing wrong with the 4.3L that Feplro intake gaskets and a marine intake wont fix, as I harp many times over.
But I dont generally follow build threads at all .. someone may be 'updating' their 2nd gen with a carb.
heh...
And you're probably right about the later 3.8... that's the vibe I get from TCCoA. Ever think about going 4.2?

yeah...4.2 is a little outta my budget range.
i was lucky...i found this 01 3.8l on craigslist..guy was swapping in a v8
so i got the harness engine and computer all for 300.00
i figured with 200k on the 95 it wasnt worth saving....if i could swap in an 01 for that price.

and honestly this car when i am done is gonna be a summer only car...maybe 2 to 3k miles on it a year. so i figure getting ahead on somethings will make it last me a long time...hopefully long enough that my kids might be able to drive it and break it.

Cool.. if you have any problems with the harness transplant, which you shouldn't cause they are both SN95, feel free to check in at the TCCoA forum. Reckon there's one or two there have done similar.

yeah, i have been working outta my "cookbook" i assembled from multiple forums.
it hasnt been to bad so far..cash is the one thing slowing me down.
one involved task is going to be the fuel rail swap/build.
looks like i have several options.

i hope to have it up and running for spring.
then i need to upgrade the axle for some "fun"
