Default Any mountain bikers here?

Anybody else share the mountain biking addiction? What isyour favorite type of riding? What do you ride? Do you race? Any good scarstories? Has it changed your life? Let’s hear it!

I’ll start with my story: 3 years ago, I was a fat slugweight 320 lbs. I was tired of feeling like crap and bought a mountain bike ona whim…today I weigh 205 lbs. I’m still the slow guy whenever I go riding withbuddies, but I can’t even explain how much better I feel and how much better mylife is.

I ride a lot of cross country because we have local trailsthat I can ride to from my front door and more trails scattered throughout northern VA but I prefer downhill. I’ve ridden mostof the east coast bike parks, and nearly all the singletrack in VA and MD. I’mtrying to explore Harrisonburg and West VA a little more lately now that myclimbing legs, lungs, and cardio are a little more refined.

I ride a 2012 Stumpjumper FSR 29er on singletrack and a 2012Kona Entourage at the bike parks.

I used to, then had to sell my bike, I miss that sucker, Risse champ front fork, hayes hydraulic disc brakes, fox vanilla rear shock, sun single wide rims paired with maxis tires.
Oh, frame was a Haro x1
Miss it, but had to pay the bills.

I work at a bike shop and deal with mountain bikes all the time but i don't have one myself. I actually race BMX, but still appreciate other types of riding.

I have a cheap Magna PK7 that's my primary bike I ride (mostly rail trails and some woods trails). Have an older Raleigh Sports I'm going to turn into a fixie, a Free Spirit that's on its way to being my 'beach cruiser' and some cheapie woman's 26" I use at camp and could care less about as long as the tubes hold air.
