Well they tested her for parvo and the results came back negative. And we ended up getting the rest of her worming treatments.

Parvo has a distinct smell. It will cause dark diarrhea that smells very bad. I can't think of a way to describe it, but once you smell it, it's easy to recognize again.

If she has parvo-related diarrhea, she'll also be extremely lethargic and probably won't eat or drink.

There's not a whole lot that can be done for parvo. Basically they try to make sure they don't get dehydrated.

I've lost several pups to parvo in the past, I hope everything turns out ok.

*edit*
I didn't see your last post. I'm glad it wasn't parvo. My son called me last week and his lab was so weak she couldn't get up. We feared the worst, but the vet said it was hook and pinworms. She got treated, and with a couple of days was up and walking, and eating a little. It's been a week now and she's back to her old self.

Cute pup, I'm glad she's alright.

i had 2 pups i bought about 2 years ago, the owners didnt tell me the mother had demodeptic (sp?) mange so the puppies got it, and my white dog had parvo symptoms but came back neg the poop was really strong runny and dark, he wouldnt eat and every thing he drank he threw up but he recovered after i took him in and he got fulled with water i remeber he looked like a camel, but during the begaining of winter last year he didnt make it because his mange flared up but his sister was alright we had her till a last week, she either got lonely ( we were living at my moms for a year) or got really sick again and went off someplace

but the baby has a new corgi/shiba inu mix he loves

the dogs were lab mixes which i miss one white and one black

got a pup bout 6 weeks ago myself for the gf as an xmas prez - don't regret a day of it so far even tho he can be a real sh|thead at times! the worming medicine for him gave him the ****s somethin fierce with the spaghetti appeal to it (one of the most nastiest things yet i've seen) but on the second round it was clean of that stuff.

His name's Deacon and he's Rough Collie/Great Pyrenees mix - should hit around the 70-80lbs mark when he's full grown i hope.
