BF - College Football Thread.
I thought since I didn't see one I would make a college football thread. Yeah, I know its kind of late but I just joined not too long ago and thought we could keep it going with updates and such from the off-season like on another forum I am on.
What do you guys think some of the teams that have had perfect seasons and beaten ranked opponents not getting a Championship bid? I know this is the biggest reason a lot of guys no longer watch cf.
While I am an Alabama fan, I do think that TCU and Cincinnati got the short end of the deal. I do think that the BCS focus more on the SEC and the southern half of the Big 12 Conference.

There is already a football thread. It fell somewhat behind though from lack of posting. It wasn't specific to college football though, it was for all football. For that reason I'll leave this thread open

Texas got really lucky that the ref's sided with them and gave them that extra second. But Alambama and Texas are a perfect match up for the National Title. Now as for TCU and Cincinati they def got the short end of the stick. If anything they should be playing against each other. But now Cincy has a really tough game against the Gators while TCU has to take on Boise State. Should be very interesting and I can't wait to see these games.

Well all I have to say is ROLL TIDE ROLL! There is always going to be some teams getting the short end of the stick. But you have to look at it this way. Cinci and TCU were not ranked as high at the begining of the year. While I will agree that Cinci and TCU have had a break out year, they normally are not ranked teams, Texas and Alabama are and were ranked high at the begining of the season. I wish there could be a playoffs for the NC but there probably will never be. I think Cinci is going to have their hands full with FL. I am just speculating though just due to I haven't watched Cinci play one game, just seen the highlights. And don't forget that the BCS loves their beloved USC (which I HATE USC) and has for years now.
All I know is Bama put a WHOOPIN on Tebow and the Gators the other night and Greg McElroy played the game of his life! I think the Texas/Bama game is going to be awesome. Oh yeah and Mark Ingram for Heisman! (strikes pose in background)

As far as Alabama I think that they did a wonderful job. I don't think that they could have played much better. As for Texas I shocked how that went. For a team that was ranked # 3 going in that and had the talent to really shine and the #22 team nearly bested them - wow.

I really thought that game was over when McCoy threw that ball out of bounds. But it is what it is now. I think the reason for Texas going to the NC game is strictly b/c they are from a more well known organization and are a bigger house hold name. I mean would you really have believed me at the first of the season if I told you at season's end Cinci and TCU would be ranked 3rd and 4th and in the BCS hunt? Yeah I don't think anyone could have predicted that one coming. Also I believe strength of schedule comes in to play still too. Hands down, and I'll probably be flamed for this but its the TRUTH, the SEC is the toughest confrence. If you look at the SEC teams losses, there are only a couple of teams that have out of confrence loses and FL lost ther NC chances to another SEC team. By the way that is the first time for a confrence championship game that teams were ranked 1 and 2.

Puttin it short and sweet. BCS is Bull. BCS likes to rank teams that have been consistantly good over the years.
Texas did not get lucky that the refs sided with them. The ball was clearly on the ground before the one second went away. They barely won that game, and being a Texas fan I don't think they should be playing Bama, they didn't earn it IMO. But I'm not tellling my Hubby that... he's a diehard Horns fan. But yet again this is where the BCS comes into play. Better known team, therefore they get the spot.

I agree with the teams being ranked b/c of consitancy, but thats their reward for being consistant year in and year out. I really do believe that Bama IS the best team in the land and they showed it against FL the other night. No doubt Bama should be playing for the title, who they play was totally computed by the BCS and I agree it is bs. Like I said before, I haven't watched Cinci or TCU play but I have watched TX play A&M and Nebraska and I have to say I was not thoroughly impressed. Texas is a good team don't get me wrong and I am sure they will bring their A game. But if Bama shows up and plays the way they did against FL, TX doesn't stand a chance. Bama just seems to be the more aggressive team to me. Not just saying that b/c I live in AL. Bama shut FL out in the second half and ran ALL OVER the so called #1 D in the land. Texas better bring it.

I am not a fan of the BCS either. Plus I'm tired about hearing about the so called strenght of schedule for Boise State. We beat the Sooners three years ago, that next year Hawaii went undefeated, went to a bowl game and got beat badly. The year after that Boise went undefeated despite being ranked, and played TCU as a consolation bowl and we lost. The icing on the cake is that this last summer some of our coaches went down to TCU and exchanged plays and ideas. So yeah TCU has a our playbook and now we have to face them.
Granted TCU has a tough schedule that why they are ranked perhaps where they should be, either way it will be a great game to watch. Plus I am looking forward to watching Crimson Tide defeat Texas.

Ok what's everybodys predictions then?
Bama over Texas (Very close game)
Florida over Cincinati (Blow out, Florida is going to take out their frustration out on Cinci.)
Boise State over TCU (Sorry but this is my upset pick, this should be a close and tough game.)
