Guy locally has a 9.5cti-s on the front of his Jeep cause it matched his paint and it's never been used!!! pfft! I AM Jeep guy, so I can say that.

I've gotten a hard time for having a poser Blazer a couple times...until I point out that the dents, bush scratches and creases don't match from panel to panel because I've had to replace several of them due to being caved in. The paint is good from a far, but far from good, and I'm lucking the local junk yard seems to keep a red Blazer in stock for me.

Curb rash m/b the only form of abuse they'll ever receive. M/b the occasional crash with an unattended shopping cart.

I kid, I kid...

I understand where these guys are coming from. I like shiney paint without scratches and dents too. I can't see myself spending 50 grand on a 4x4 and then beating the **** out of it in the bush. We have the Blazer 4x4 and my F150 FX4 but they never go off road. I have a Grizzly 700 quad that goes deeper into the forest than any full size 4x4 will ever get to and it cost a fraction of what my truck cost. To each their own.

I think that's the point of this thread tho is why spend $50k equipping a vehicle to be driven offroad and then only drive it on sunny days with zero chance of rain? If you aren't going to use it as its built for then why even build it? Oh wait that's cause %99 of jeep owners are posers and I bet %75 of that %99 percent have a Harley parked in their garage that never gets ridden either just cause they want the "wow" factor when they open the garage door!

I'm not saying every 4x4 out there should be driven offroad and beat on but if you spend the money to make it capable use it dam***!!!

It's insulting when someone had a capable truck that they never use for it's intended purpose. Or a Ferrari that sees nothing but a garage or country club. If you have money, great, buy a Bentley, a Merc or BMW, it would be a waaay better vehicle for a pretentious lifestyle!

OK, rant done...

I am a car nut. I look at them as rolling works of art and I see the time, money and effort spent and respect that. It is irrelevant to me if someone builds a beautiful off road rig and does not off road it. If driving it on the road makes its owner happy then it has achieved its purpose in my mind. My brother and I built his 67 Nova (pictures under my user name). He spent a ton of money on it and I am sure most people would think he's crazy. He built it to go fast but does not race it and I could care a less. It makes him happy and you can't smack the smile off his face every time he drives it. To me if you can afford it, it's legal, and it makes you happy go for it.

Yea, I can see your point. I'm too practical(and poor) I think. If I could, I probably would too.

After lift and mud tires mine is actually less capable off road lol. Rubs every time I leave the driveway, I doubt that would help offroad!

Ive lifted my Silverado, and its kept clean and shiny... But it goes offroad any time I can. Now I live in the country if I see a trail that she fits into, she fits into it.
