he said the driveshaft came a hair within hitting someone. i just hate working on dodges, everytime i do anything to one its always a hassle. kinda like garfield hates monday, chryslers are my thing to hate

ive done transmissions on so many different makes and models and ive never been so frustrated til i did a dakota. this ram wasnt too bad. the torque converter access hole was kinda a joke but no real major problems

i was able to salvage the front driveshaft, some of the splines at the very tip had some burrs on them, a little bit of elbow grease with a file took care of that. i put the trans and transfer case in today. still no idea on price. but the cores he said were worth $1500 so im sure they cost a bit more then that. the cores got sent back today after i was sure i got everything off of them

My NV4500 is not a weak transmission. In fact the NV 4500 is stronger than the NV5600. As for their automatic transmissions I have never had any trouble with the 02 Dakota 4x4 I had. But the Allison is by far the best heavy automatic today. But remember when they first came out they had their issues too.

By "weak" I mean "fail a lot" which is true. Dodge transmissions, in general, do fail more often than other vehicles.

Random would be correct. Dodge is known for their automatics failing. Ive even heard from a few people that their average life span is 100,000 miles. But my 94 Dakota 3.9 with the auto that I traded for this Blazer I have now(and I kick myself in the *** everyday for it) had 15x,xxx miles on it. Original transmission and it was a hard worker. So I think that there was a few of them out there that didnt have issues and you just had to be lucky enough to get it.

technically. we booted it out side cause we are waiting on the rear driveshaft. i just drove it out in front wheel drive for the time being.

the old ford broncos are basically like the old chevys in a sense so kinda. the only time i really messed with a bronco was at my old job they had a 85 plow truck and messed with that thing a few times

if youre talking about the bronco then yeah no idea thats to new, the old 85 had the lever and locking hubs with the TTB axle up front

the total for the dodge repair was $4500, guess hes a friend of the guy up front so thats probably why so cheap i figured it was gonna be a bit more. transfercase was 1200, trans was 2000 and the rest was labor
