DDM HID raptor kids
So, for the last year i've been running some of the DDM Tuning Raptor hid kits that cost $45 shipped last summer.. they worked great for over a year and everything! i even bought a second set to run as my high beams. Well, the low beams started to get weird, the driver side started turning more yellow and the passenger side started flickering. I drove around for about 20 minutes and pulled into my buddies house to find out that the bulbs were glowing bright orange when i shut the truck off.. Ok, so the bulbs were going bad, i called up DDM to get my warranty except i couldn't find the packaging slip and the guy i was talking to was being a complete PITA. So, i asked him "what do i have to do to warranty my HID kit?" his response was, "well, if you have all your receipts, your packaging information and date of sale, we can help you out no problem." i have everything except my packaging information, well, apparently they won't look it up in their database for you and the guy starts going off on me when i asked him to. "well its your fault for not having the paperwork, we're not responsible for your stupidity, and too bad, maybe you should have bought a more expensive brighter kit than our cheapest set!".. so needless to say, i have regular bulbs right now and will continue to have no HID lows until i can make enough money doing odd jobs around the neighborhood... its just some BS that i needed to get off my chest
Thats crap. If they didn't want to offer a "cheap" set, then they shuldn't sell it or offer a warranty on it. A customer is a customer, no matter how much they spent. I was considering their kit, but after reading this I'll be sticking with HIDExtra once I decide to go that route relatively soon. Sorry they're being douches.
the real killer is that the guy just lost a lot of business in my area. i have a bunch of buddies who just got newer cars (03 mustang, 05 monte carlo, 09 g8, so forth) that were looking into these kits, well, they just lost a good amount of business through that... i'm just really pissed about it... to some people $40 is nothing, but college kids and people who value their money, its a fair amount. i fall under both of those categories. I'm just fed up with people these days. When companies go under, they ask why, maybe its because you hired idiots to answer your phones, to assemble your product, to do the real work and they messed up big....
Yeah, I have to look through my pile of **** to see if I can find my HIDextra info, just in case... that and I want to give a copy to the person who buys my spare set (*cough*chris*cough*) just in case something goes wonky on them. I mean the damn things are brand new.
i don't know if it was the person i talked to but after only having them installed for about 9 months or so, and he could have been having a bad day, who knows... but my kit went bad and they won't replace them. so i figure get a better kit for a little more money and a better service department (my cousin).
I showed this and wlorton's thread about his hood to my dad who owns a plastic fabrication company. He said there that those companies must not get many repeat customers or customers that suggest them to their friends. Word of mouth is still the most reputable form of advertising. My dad could spend money for advertising on websites or get local commercials, but word of mouth has done wonders for him since 1996. Its just sad that the owners of these places dont realize the only reason they themselves aren't working for someone else is because of the customers who come to them. Thats why the customer should matter to these people.
Believe me I know Phil. My cousin does window tinting and audio installs. Most of his customers are repeats with new cars or their friends. He has had 20 people in the last 6 months alone from me
