Default Disheartening Delivery!

My jobsite took delivery of a 1999 chevy 3500 one ton today. Poor thing has less than 40k miles but some, ahem, genius at the job it was at before mine trashed the thing.

Upon arrival the drive shaft was in the bed.
3 of the 6 tires were flat.
Mirrors were ripped off.
Transfer case= trash.

and it gets way worse.

Upon popping the hood....
The air-cleaner had been removed, god knows when. There was about 1/16" of mud on the butterfly of the throttle body. Apparently it was left out in the rain with the hood open for.....awhile.

The egr and pcv valves had been removed.

Tensioner missing, but the belt was still there.

None of the open holes had been plugged so I'm expecting the worst. I suppose the next step is to remove the intake and valve covers and see how bad things really are.

It just really pisses me off to see equipment treated in this fashion. Other than some body issues the truck was serviceable, but now...a perfectly good 5.7L engine is probably toast, a transfer case needs to be found and god knows what else.

sounds like a job for 3500 forum dot com

Sucks man. I know all about people treating gear like crap because it's not "their's"
Weak indeed.

Update. After a little research and wheedling I found out that one of the "mechanics" at the job was taking the parts of the truck and putting them on his! All because it had to sit until a transfer case could be found for it.

Make that "mechanic" pay for the parts like he should have in the first place.
