I was taught at a young age if you don't like your job you are working at the wrong place and I finally hit a point in my life where I just do not enjoy it anymore (mainly bathroom kitchen remodels specializing in ceramic/porcelain/marble/granite etc tile) so I have decided it's time to start my own deal (Outsydr Automotive Solutions) it has not taken off enough yet that I can afford to pay for an actual shop or quit my job so currently working from my home garage but it is getting there internet advertising has really helped alot more than I expected it to considering where I live but I'll take whatever I can get.

thats so true. i wanted to work on cars for a living but then i realized that i would enjoy it more as just a hobby. you work on everyone elses car all day the last thing you want to do is fix your own car when you get home. i decided law enforcement is the career path i want to take. but anyways back on topic i work at a carwash from 7 to 7 everyday except wed and thurs detailing cars getting paid 5.50 an hour, the tips are good though. but i hate the job so much mostly because me and one other kid are the only ones who arnt drug addicts. the owners a drug addict aswell as the manager, asst manager and all the other detailers they are lazy and are always hi and buying drugs at work. iv been working there for a year and havnt been promoted or have gotten a raise, but the guy who got arrested at work and only has been working there for 6months is the asst manager and got a raise. i just dont understand it but life goes on

Heck yea I tried putting my two weeks notice in today so I could go back to my old job , and they came back at me with a sweet offer . $4 dollars more a hour and 5 percent increase in my commission , now I can actully make a living instead of just surviving . I totally did not expect that , but I'm so happy .

My bosses promised us raises in the new year when we were at our christmas party, and they joked about how Transforce (huge truck company) had offered 650mil to buy our company...

We got our raises in March - every employee got 1.9% raise... INFLATION in canada was 2.5%... It will feel like I make .6% less than I did last year.

|Tim hortons coffee went up 2.5%... Slurpees went up 2.5%... Gasoline is up 20%... But my wages couldnt get matched...

Then last Wednesday our company sold out to Mullen Group... After telling us months before that the business would stay a family business forever...

I hate my job, they lie, they cheat, they dont care about the employees.

So now everyone is worried we will lose our jobs. The ex-owners tell us "Nothing is going to change" but how can they say that when they have ZERO call on that anymore cause they took 400million and shares in Mullen Group...

Guess I am in the minority here as I love my job.

I work at Cabela's as a Firearms Inspector Mon-Thur part time. Can't really say I "make" any money working there as I spend more in the store than I get paid. When there are no firearms around to clear I get to tease the kids, flirt with the women and bs with the guys.

It's times like these that makes you realize how lucky you are if you have a job and how bad it REALLY is in the American economy right now. AJ, I have to give you my vote for coolest job so far, pretty nice.

I'm A HE operator at a junkyard in Asheville, NC. I run a Volvo 330 with a Magnum 650 mobile shear attachment most of the times (about 100,000lb machine), but also run grapple cranes. We have been around since 1926 and are the biggest recycler around so we stay busy. This job is extremely stressful sometimes...we are one of the only yards in the country that lets customers walk around and "shop" in the actual yard where we operate, alot of people aren't very smart or know how to stay out of the way, so this really adds to the stress!

It's very frustrating sometimes, but the pays decent, benefits are incredible, everyday's different and I could leave monday and go anywhere in the world and get a job. Hell, sometimes the tips aren't bad either! Sorry for the essay guys, haha, good thread.
