just be thankful it's not a Cummins (12L) or the new Ford's-those puppies hold 16L. and in the Winter the Ford's have to use full synthetic or they void the warrenty (Mr. Lube charges $210 for that in the Ford).

but that's what i luv about my 6.2, it's just like a SB.

I HATE fram oil filters i used one on my truck and when i went to change the oil the filter broke and took me 2 hours to get off. I WILL NEVER USE A FRAM OIL FILTER AGAIN.

I did an oil change on my sister in laws car, and it was a Fram and it had about 10,000 kms on it. Oil was still clean. Took 2 hours to get it off and I mutilated the hell out of it, but there was no cardboard in it, it was all metal. Anyways replaced it with a K&N with the nut, we'll see how that goes. But after reading this I'll probably use NAPA gold.

I have been using a Fram Tough Guard for 3 years now but it is soooo hard to get the damn thing off the remote mount on my ZR2. I am considering switching over to the K&N even though it costs alot more just to have the nut on the end for ease of removal.

WOW! i've been using Frams for over 20 years, and i change the oil in my trucks every month, every other in the cars (not used as much). so that's alot of filters i've gone through, and have never had an issue-EVER!

well, i did have an issue once-for about 5 seconds. i failed to notice the o-ring got stuck to the filter block on my Dart (brand new engine, changing the break-in oil).

freakin' crazy, it emptied almost the full 7 quarts in that short of time, good thing my brother was standing in front of the car when i started it up!

sure taught me to always double check the old filter.

Maybe it's because you change the oil so often? I don't know of many people that change it every month. Perhaps by the third or fourth month, it'd be worse?

Yeah I heard about this the other day. I've used fram ever since I bought the truck. My then girlfriends uncle that works at advance and ownes a lifted s10 pickup said to use it cause the purolater? (I think) leaked at the remote filter point and fram was the best he'd used. Never had any problems that I know of, but guess I might switch to napa stuff, (Since I don't get a discount at advance anymore since she's my EX now!)

just finished watching HorePower TV (on PowerBlock), they were doing a big thing on oil filters @ Royal Purple's plant.

i've gotta say, their filters sure do look pretty bulit proof.

they did a bunch of tests on the filters;

- took 600psi and didn't burst (comparrision filter "popped" @ 260psi),
- dumped a handful of fine dust (3 to 5 microns i think he said), and it was performing @ 99.9% efficency.
^^^kinda have a problem with that test though, the test batch of oil was hugh (like maybe 10 gallons?)
- a vibration test-equal to 6 G's!,
- 150,000 start up pressure test,

wonder what those things are worth?

I got to say, royal purple is looking pretty good from what you say and that video posted earlier. Think they're actually as good as it seems? Granted, they all seem to be produced in some part by Royal Purple, which sketches me out a tiny bit. What you guys think?
