First commercial trucking accident today Nov 21...

I am the Receiver for a fairly large company
We receive between 150-200 skids in less than a 4hr window , 2 docks . 2 tow motors and most of it is LTL
On average I see 7 or more courier trucks in there as well
I have pretty much 0 tolerance for B.S from drivers
I have regular local drivers that say we are one of the best places they deliver to
Fortunately we are a secure facility so I can choose to make drivers stay in their truck

Glad you're okay! Jeeze whoever supervised that trailer loading oughtta see this clip. I started driving forklift this year and even I know you don't load a truck like that. There's a reason "High and Tight" floats around the docks!!!!

Yup, you always load high and tight to the right... I beleive thats the maximize drive axle weight, and also to put more weight on the right which should ditch you into the right ditch in a wipeout instead of oncoming traffic.

I've always felt center was the best place to go... Just in case, of course going to the right would be the best cause if you are to the right. This fella was definintely going out of his range on this one, but if you werent there it coulda been some hopeless sap in a prius for all we know. At the end of the day, our buddy is alright and the insurance companies can take care of the rest!!!!

Well my tractor went to the body shop on the hook after the accident. Ive been running the spare unit since then - no Alpine system, no VHF/UHF/CB radios, crappy bed, dirty cab, all that jazz... They say my unit will be done wednesday this week, so Im hoping to have my own bed back and all my toys midweek...
Damage was over 10K to my truck, $2000 to the lead trailer, and wrote off the rear trailer.

Often I rearrange loads for drivers and get the question "how would you like to come work on our dock?"

High and tight to the right? That's a new one on me, but the only time I've run a box is for this side gig going to Kremmling and back. Open deck and dry box are two very different things. But when I pick up these pallets of stuff from Kremmling, it's 21 pallets total... first one is front and center, then the rest are stacked in rows of two side-by-side, with each row being offset left-right-left-right-etc. Balances pretty well, keeps the load from shifting.
On a side note (but a related one, nonetheless), some of these gear ratios... wow! I was looking at a PornStar today... they're turning 3.36s with a .74 O/D trans, and only a 12.8 liter engine. Now wonder it was for sale with less than 250k on the odometer. Hell, I'd never run a truck with anything shorter than 3.90s until 2011.
