Friend Driving My '83 Honda Odyssey - Pics & Short Vid
WARNING: my friend who is driving the Oddy chose not to wear a helmet. This is his property. He is aware I always wear a helmet, and that I bitch at him every time I see him without it. He is a street bike rider, so he should know better.
Here she is parked on an old bridge built by the railroad company way back when to allow the farmer access to the fields on the other side of the tracks. At this point the tracks are lower than the surrounding terrain, hence the bridge.
You can see here just how high the bridge is. This rail line know as the Falls Road line owned by the Rochester, Lockport and Buffalo Railroad incorporated in 1850. Conrail removed the rails on most of the tracks from Rochester to Brockport. The western end near Brockport is where this is taken. Some sections have been sold and built on, but much of outside the city is ridable. There was actually a second line added in the early 1900's for a trolley line, so in some places where it isn't overgrown, there is a side by side trail to ride on.
And a quick vid in my buddy's back yard. - YouTube --> '83 Honda Odyssey Out For A Spin

Yeah, it's one of the few toys I always wanted as a kid. I have had 2, 3, and 4 wheelers, but never a Honda Odyssey. Since they stopped making them about 1984, they are hard to come by these days. It is basically a glorified go kart. When I found a nice one for sale last year, I just had to buy it! Most people think I am talking about the mini van until I explain it to them.

Sooo the Odyssey is a go-kart and also a mini-van? Hmm, never knew.

Lol when I clicked on this I though Why would he have a vid of a minivan lol, now i see, that thing is cool!
What do you think the top speed is?

Honda made this style of ATV's from 1979 till 1985. The models changed a bit in the middle '80s. Mine is an FL250, they added a FL350, still called an Odyssey, and then they made the Pilot. The Pilot was the best one ever and still brings in about $5000-$6000 IF you can find one for sale. They stopped making all models by 1985. Pilots sold until they were gone thru 1990. So move on up to the the '90s and Honda decides to make minivans and they used both names on them. So today, most people think of Pilot & Odyssey minivans, not ATV's. Below is a history line of them.
The FL250 goes about 50 mph. Since it has no real rear suspension on the original models (till the FL350 came out), 50 mph is plenty fast enough! LOL

The 1977-79 Honda FL-250 Odyssey
The 1981-84 Honda FL-250 Odyssey
The 1985 Honda FL-350R Odyssey
The 1989-90 Honda FL-400 Pilot
A view or the cockpit. Notice the cool rectangular steering wheel. All the controls, throttle, brakes, etc are controlled by levers on the steering wheel. No pedals to worry about.

Hmm pretty cool. I never knew the Pilot and Oddyssey had another beginning other then being a minivan and SUV . Thanks for the lesson.

They are actually quite popular in Canada eh? Apparently, there are lots of them still going in the Ontario area for sure. Lots of Canadians on the Odyssey forums.

The 85 odyssey and the pilot are really cool! I may have to buy one of these one day
