I changed my mind. Summer late 1980's . I saw a lady in a parking lot trying to change a tire. She had on a mini skirt and a tube top. Built like a greyhound, the dog not the bus. I pulled over for shot at her phone number. She had the car jacked up incorrectly and wasn't strong enough to loosen the lug nuts. Didn't notice the jack as I removed the tire, my left hand was at 6 o'clock and my right hand at 12 on the rim she had driven the tire off of. When I pulled, the whole car came down, taking off the end of my left middle finger. Even if I had common sense I couldn't have used it around her. I apologized for dropping her car on the jack. She asked if I was ok, I said yes and drove myself to the hospital. I've wondered if the next person to help her found my finger under that rim.

 

So you no longer have the full bird on lefty.

It's a funny story, not a love story. No phone number, no girl, no finger. The most memorable part was the icky roller coaster feeling in my stomach after the car came down and my hand failed the finger count. I looked under the car and the frame had the jack pinned. No finger. I kept my hand in a fist and told her about the jack, then split. The only cool thing is I didn't say ow or cry. As far as what it looked like. Have you ever cooked a hot dog in the microwave too long?

 

Daggone. Bet you still remember exactly what she looked like though!
