How did you learn Car repair etc.

I hear you there 100%. Growing up on a farm is a huge thing when it comes to mechanic work and ingenuity. I have learned quite a bit from working on a family farm, but since I am only going to be 20 in a bit over a month, I certainly have a LONG way to go. As far as vehicles, I mostly do the work on cars around my place. My dad doesn't care to do much except oil changes and the basics while I am all for going a little deeper into things. I have also learned quite a bit about the blazers from this forum (best website I have found in the history of the internet lol) and other various places on the web
Uh, no.. but close.
I've been here SINCE the history of the internet {for practical purposes} began with mail-lists and this site is real close to the spirit and depth of

I truly think that the Probst books will help you out tremendously. If you learn how the -now classic- port fuel injection really works, you wont have much trouble transitioning through EDIS and even Direct Injection.. the latter which I'm not even going to worry about at my advanced age.
Basic Electrical theory will help you a whole lot, of course.

I learned in pieces so in order of history
1 Working with my dad on our family cars taught me mechanical parts on the engine and beginning of brakes
2 my dad and I bought several old motorcycles and began fixing them up
3 Went to an auto tech program where they taught me precision mechanics, engine electrical, and vehicle maintenance
4 And finally worked at a hole in the wall garage where my friend tony taught me exhaust and suspension
