HP Pavillion--Crapped Out!

Yup. Compaq falls under the HP umbrella. They're made the same crappy way lol. Both owned by HP.
Funny thing is commercial grade HP computers are awesome. They are up there in quality and life. I don't know why their retail side sucks so much.

Toshiba/Asus laptops have the lowest failure rate. HP is at the top

Compaq is Hp discount brand
Dell makes two good things: monitors and laptops
Hp makes great workstations, I haven't had any experience with there laptops
Toshiba, my friend loves his notebook
Asus makes great motherboards and video cards, I'm not too sure on everything else
Gateway is pretty good, my aunt likes them
emachine are junk
Sony over expensive for what you get
Mac, only suckers buy them
Alienware, same as Mac overpriced

My HP was purchased in Aug 05 and is still kickin. I did have the motherboard go bad and I was able to get the exact replacement of off ebay and had a local computer shop change it out. It has been over a year since the mother board was replaced and I traveled quite a bit with my lap top and so far it has held up nicely. It is lacking by todays standard in performance but i just do email and web surfing. I have also been infected with a virus and ended up having to reformat the hard drive but that was not the laptops fault. Now in the event of catastrophic failure I have backed up my important data to an external hard drive just in case.

I got a new Pavilion dv7. Quad Core, widescreen LED screen, 6GB of ram...great machine. We've had several HPs for years and haven't had any real problems. My Dell desktop I got a few years back worked for two days and then the motherboard went. Dell Customer Service was nice enough to come and replace it though.
