Dont get me wrong I love GM. All the vehicles I ever owned were GM vehicles. But has everyone noticed how Honda, Toyota, VW are kicking american car companies @ss right now. There making profit and not lining up for a bailout. They have no unions, pay less, but still make quality vehicles that 1.hold there value 2. last forever 3.cost less in the long run.

Unions arnt like they used to be. now its pay more for less work which is the reason why these companies are in this mess to begin with. The unions arnt helping anymore. Get rid of them and start over.

i agree with you stevo. Im really surprised they didnt drop GMC

I think a lot of the reasons foreign is doing better than American is the cost of the car. The foreign cars tend to be cheaper and with the economy the way it is its all people can afford. I think GM needs to lower the cost of their vehicles a bit. I know a few people the changed to foreign because most get better gas millage and they are cheaper but they are also cheaper made.

see what happened was the car companys got greedy
everyone got greedy
now its a matter of whos got the most money
when they havent looked back to see what they have come through
it aint about the american way anymore. its all about money
20 years ago, they made much less money even though the economy is messed up now
they made less money and were happy
everyone got greedy and prices went up and it was like a domino effect
dont get me wrong, my sister has a honda, its a nice car and everything
but in my mind, we are in america
we should get back to the american way
we made this country, and we can survive in it
we dont need foreign cars, because thats taking customers away from american cars
and some car companys moved factories to mexico and other places
only so they could hire people to do the same work for less pay
because they got greedy

yeah thats all they really care about now days is the money. Ive noticed that the quality of american cars is going down. They are still good quality but not as good as they use to be. Cars today dont last nearly as long as they use too. All because they are trying to save money. So we are paying more for lower quality

The problem is that American companies developed this "good enough" attitude. so in the 80's when the influx of Japanese cars happened American Automotive found them self playing catch up. Then on top of that going to current times thanks to the last group of people in government fueling a war that really wasn't that necessary, Banks giving loans to more people than they should, the Economy started to collapse, the first to suffer of course were the banks, as everyone knows, so we throw money at them. the banks are happy but don't want to give the money back out like they were suppose to, which causes the economy to keep failing. Then you have the news with their "Troubled Economy" Reports that cause people not to spend as they are now afraid, of whats gonna happen if they do, Now the big three are in trouble thanks to the unions, poor management, lack of business and other issues, so they go looking for a handout, now that's splashed all over the new how Ford, Chrysler and GM are in trouble, which in turn drops the demand for domestic cars down even further, after all what general consumer would actually buy a car from a company that may not be around in a few years? So now the Big three are in major trouble, and Foreign cars are getting more business as people are more likely to go by a Toyota, or Honda than a Chevy or Ford. Its to a point now were large dealerships are going or are already gone out of business. now on top of the already econominc disaster, companys (such as Crane Cams for example) also go out of buisness, and other companies are forced to lay people off to stay afloat, which leads to a heavy imbalance on the job market, now people can't make their morgages, car payments or even utillity payments causing cars to get repo'ed, houses to get forclosed on, etc etc.

You can't blame Obama for the mess we are in currently, this is a downward spiral that was set in motion years ago, and is a very difficult problem to solve, it may take years for America to be able to pull itself back out.
