Default might be buying this 2000 mits. mirage de 5 speed

http://newlondon.craigslist.org/cto/1709419305.html links and pics, told the guy to keep the peice of **** system, and he ghetto wired his ****, so nasty i must fix. other then that has cold air intake, headers, racing wires, rims, exhaust, sounds pretty good, guess it beats hondas and maxes out at 140-150? we will see.

i owned a 2002 mirage automatic, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2650732

talked him down from 1700 to 1200

not my cup of tea, but going by your screen name, i'm guessing you're going after mileage (which i can understand).

plus you say you've owned one in the past, so obviously you like them (not saying that i don't).

as long as there is nothing seriously wrong with it, it sounds like you've got a good deal going.

yeah way better on gas then a blazer any day, and its 5 speed i hate automatic with a passion, exhaust sounds pretty good. i know a friend who can paint it black for like 400 bucks so i can do that and save on insurance

Yeah, that 4 banger probably gets a lot better gas mileage than a blazer lol. Not the kind of car I would like but I guess if it gets good gas mileage who cares.

The fact that he says it "beats honda's and tops out at 140-150" would discourage me right away. Also the ghetto wiring on the stereo, who knows what else he has rigged up. He obviously beats the **** out of the car but take it for a spin anyhow I could be wrong?

I'm with Swain on this one. If this guy has been beating on the car then I'd steer clear of it. Even if you get it for 1200 and you've then got 1600 to play with, I know I'd be very frustrated if I bought a daily driver and then had to spend more than what I paid for it to take care of the problems that pop up and to fix half-assed work. Just my .02.

Yeah, I think I would stay clear of it if he has been racing it also especially if it is owned by a teenager I know for some reason at least where I live everyone in my school wants to "rice" out their car so that they can brag how slow it is like the guy in one of my classes with a neon srt4 bragging that he can run a quarter mile in the mid 14's LOL. But he still races it every weekend...
