New Small truck for GM?
From autoblog:
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/27/r...w-small-truck/ What do you think? I'd love to see a new small truck. I'm with AB, I was never really a fan of the Canyon/Colorado. they were nice looking truck, but outrageosly overpriced. |
I like the Canyons, and think that the crew cab offroad 4x4 package is pretty BA, but then again, I also liked the s10 crew cab.... Makes me think Blazer with a bed...
|
The article points out the reasons for lack of sales for small trucks quite well. Personally, I think the concept is great, it's been the executions that have held them back.
And, no, we will not see the reintroduction of the S10/Blazer. :icon_no: |
I like the idea of a new truck from GM but, I did always think the Colorado SS looked awesome even though it had a big price tag.
|
Yeah I deffinetly like the look of the Colorado, but I could go for something else, if executed well, and if the price is lowered.

The Colorado isn't bad looking, and it has some great engines, but the quality is awful. I looked at one not long ago, and you could see wires where they put a hole in the carpet for the seat belt.

I like the Canyon better than the Colorado, but I know I'm the minority on that one.
|
they will probably end up making an equinox pickup truck
|
The Equinox isn't even on a truck frame though. It's on a car frame and has a car engine.
I'd like to see a new small truck by GM but I don't know if it will happen. The small truck mantra of being low priced an reliable still plays out today in the vast used auto market. Small trucks are everywhere in used lots and can be had for cheap. |
a honda ridge line doesn't have a frame but it is still considered a truck

I do think however that it would be a wise move on GM's part to use the S10 platform as somewhat of a starting point. I understand their thinking when they decided to move on from the S10 name, but given the low sales and poor reliability (from what Ive read) they really need to take a hard look at what the s10's offered people that they're not getting from the Colorado and canyon |
Well where I live you don't see many Colorado/Canyon but 2nd gen S10 S10 blazers and trucks are everywhere it's probably the most common car in my town. I'm even starting to see a lot of first gen blazers but mine is still the only 2 door I've seen in my town for some reason.
|
I must admit that I really like the Colorado. I like the front end a bit better than the S10. I like the 5.3L that you can get with it, and I like how good it looks in crew cab. A lot of trucks look awkward with 4 doors, but the Colorado pulls it off.
However, like Alex said. Overpriced. Upwards of $40,000 for a small-size pickup truck with nothing revolutionary? No thanks. |
I wish they made the trailblazer more rugged like the colorados... trailblazers just remind me of an old man's suv, especially the longer ones and the envoys

Yeah, think lot of people share these opinions, and the new trailblazer and equinoxs and whatnot, just look and act more like minivans than suv---we want our s10s back!!, lol.
