Been doing this since it was posted. Can tell the blades do stay clean. Wish I knew about this before.

I would like to report that I'm still on the same blade too.

Just checking in again. I am still on the same blade, still shaves just as well. I have switched the soap/water to mineral oil a couple months ago since the water was evaporating on me. Another trick I do is shake the air bubbles off the blade when I put it in the oil till next shave.

So since my original post was the beginning of 2014, and that blade was about 6 months old... I am almost at one year on the same blade shaving twice or three times a week... Pretty impressive what a $2 bottle of mineral oil can do. I have now saved about $80 on razor blades after amost a year.

Anyone else got a report?

I use a double edged saftey blade. Shaves much closer than your normal razor's do, and blades last much longer. You can also get a 100 pack of blades for just over 10$.

I have 5 oclock shadow by 1
I usually only shave in the shower , steam seems to help me get a better shave
I will have to give the soak deal a try

I gave up on razors many years ago, having to shave every day in the military. Not that I have a heavy beard or a heavy 5 o'clock shadow but the ONLY time I could shave with a razor was immediately getting out of a hot shower.

I've been using an electric razor for over 20 years now. I still can't shave until out of the shower but I don't spend $$$ on razors that never last that long. Plus, I don't spend $$$ on shaving cream.

No, I don't get nearly the close shave I would with a razor, but I don't need to. I've been through about 4 or 5 electric shavers or the past 20 years and feel I've saved myself more than a few dollars.

If I need a REALLY close shave, I'll steal one of my wife's razors and do the job. Of course, this is before she uses it. I don't know what it is about a woman shaving her legs but it completely ruins a razor for a man's face!

I am going to try this out starting today. I never notice, until I change the blade, how crappy the last has gotten. My job requires close shaves in case we need to use our respirators, and if I can get a single blade to last a year, that would be amazing. They sure are getting expensive...

Wish I could do the easier option and just grow the beard. lol.

I've been doing this since it was posted, and am still using the same blade. I use a Gillette Fusion and they are stupid pricy to buy new blades. The blade I started this method with was already a month old, but after soaking it in the soap solution for a day or two it shaved noticeably better and is still going strong.
