Have you ever tried to cap something while its under pressure?

I'll bet you cant stop the water from coming out of your faucet with your bare hand, and I dont mean by turning the handle off. That is only 30psi.

ummm................erik10..............they already tried that.


and it didn't work.



something about the pressure of the crude coming out of the pipe, @ that depth & temperature, was causing the hydrogen found in water to turn into some kind of dense ice crystals-almost immediately.

but nice suggestion...................especially since that was my first thought when they couldn't get the damn thing stopped by the 10th day.
