Default Tivo loses easy money.

We had our Tivo for 5 years .. got the series two on one of those covert promotions where the box is essentially free on a two year contract.
This AM the wife sez.. 'did you pay the Tivo bill?

Sure did. Same as always .. have my bank shoot off a transfer for $13 first week of the month as always.
Then I thought again.. 'uh-oh!'
Sure enough they got around to me. Heard last summer the subscription went to 19.95 /mo. So this month, when we used up 13 dollars worth, Tivo shut it off.
What I should have done maybe was just start sending that much. Now I find I have to sign up 1 year and pay that.
- funny thing, it's as if i never had a subscription everything in my account but my log-in vanished, but the good side was I got away with about 8 months at the low rate.

Hmmm.. TW just raised my rates for lowest dig tier with two boxes by 8 bucks and for an increase of 13 a month total I can exchange the digital box for a dvr box.

And wont have problems recording the digital tier programs like I did with the Tivo2
Good luck, Tivo. It was easy money for you.. if you'd kept track you'd know i bothered your support staff ONCE in that five years. How much did it cost you to keep me paying you instead of going to the cable dvr? Nada!

BTW.. once Tivo folds there will be a TON of hacks for the boxes and you'll be able to do a lot of neat stuff. If you care by then.
Tivo's existing right now on winning lawsuits on patent infringements.

Wow I'm paying way too much for my cable services. I have to go to sat. soon.
I pay around $190/month for my digital cable, few movie channels & The Fight Network, my high speed cable internet & my phone which is basically a VOIP that's connected to the phone box in the basement so it's over all my existing phone jacks & has a battery back-up.
The phone is $40 because I have it bundled with cable & internet & I can call Canada & the USA unlimited for nothing extra.
The phone is a nice feature - unlimited across Canada & the US but I could just as easily get a different VOIP on a cordless phone & be just as happy. I love my DVR & bug my gf that I can stop, rewind, FF, record etc etc lol where as she has to wait for a commercial to go for a pee, I just pause n pee!
