4wd lowering questions
BAGGED 4X4 4DR. yea why would you lower a 4x4? I have one except mine lays hump. "Lowriders are for boys who cant get it up!" That saying is gone and done, serious the lifted guys need a new one. Lowering a 4x4 is interesting, not everyone does it, actually a select few. Its a difficult task, NOT BOLT ON. If you are just lowering a 4x4 then just take out the bolts for the keys you will usually get about 3-4 inch drop. But you have to loosen up the torsion bars after the tension is off of them so bounce the truck around after the bolts are out. Then in the rear just put 3 inch blocks. If you run 4 in blocks you will smack the frame on the axle and the sway bar will rub through the shocks. Any questions just throw them at me.
I'm dropping my truck in the next week or so. So far I'm doing a 2" drop all around because of my tire size. But I still have room to do the 3" drop... I ordered everything from summit racing because they sell the items for 10-20.00 cheaper. So far I have Belltech 2" drop blocks for the rear and 4 brand new Belltech Nitro Drop 2 shocks. All of those items came out to 180.00 shipped. My boy is going to do the drop on my truck and use the torsion key to lower the front 2". If you do plan on dropping your truck, def get new shocks.
will the tires I have on my truck is 275/45/20... So I "think" 2" is the most I can go with changing to a 40 or 35 profile. But I will know better once the suspension is installed. I took measurements last night and it seems I can go lower. But I don't wanna assume anything until I take the truck on a test drive with the 2" drop.
Personally I would like to lower mine 2" all around, but am keeping it at stock for now. I think lowering it gives it a different presences about it. Namely because you can tell it sits lower, but everyone else is going to have to think if that is lowered or not
Nothing wrong with a lowered 4x4... If I didn't play in the mud, I'd lower mine... It's nice to have the extra traction in the snow, especially if you don't have the ground clearance...
I wouldn't mind a custom air setup that lets me lower it a couple inches compared to stock, and can lift it a couple inches higher than stock...
