Default 1995 Chevy Blazer 4dr 4x4

Hey all,

new member to the forums. I've been surfing through them for sometime but finally made it official.

I own a '95 Blazer 4dr 4x4, the family hauler.

I've already done a 98+ front grille/headlight/core support swap & just this past weekend installed heated & power (drv & pass) seats into it.

This week and most of next week it is in my buddy's shop to fix my exhaust issue, broke the 3 bolts from the manifold to the exhaust lol & he's going to fix my 4x4 issue, replacing vacuum lines and the vacuum actuator on the TC.

he works on my rigs when he can fit them in between appointments. I have the luxury of owning several vehicles, so I can afford the time.

next up is stiffer rear end suspension, leaning towards air bags like in my k2500. and further down the road the Trailblazer steering box.

Welcome! Question for you sir, how difficult is it to swap the grill and headlights, and how long did it take?

hey Benp thank you for the welcome,

As for your question it is actually not all that difficult, mostly time consuming, and a few split knuckles for me. Ot is a very straight forward swap.

All in from beginning to finish i would say it took about 6 hours for me.

The most time consuming parts we're figuring out how to remove the core support wothout removing the a/c & radiator and the reinstall around the a/c & radiator.

there are some really good write ups on the forums here.

I had the luxury of having a complete donor & my vehicle sitting side by side.

98+ Parts List:

Core Support & all hardware from donor (ie. Sensors, Bolts, Wiring Harness Clips)
Headlights
Grill
Front Bumper (optional)
Wiring harness from the core support

I always recommend cleaning up your bolts with a wire brush before reinstalling.

What year steering box and why may I ask. First I read about this.

the steering box is RPO Code ZQ8, commonly found in the "Trailblazer" edition of the Blazer, and of course you want either new or as low km's as you can from a junkyard, and I have heard that a 2wd ZQ8 can be used on the 4x4's as long as you keep the 4x4 pitman arm.

I am also researching if RPO Code F41 from a Monte Carlo will work or not in the 4x4's. I know they do in the 2wd S10's.

The different steering boxes will give a quicker turn ratio from left lock to right lock position. I can't remember off hand if they are wider or shorter turn ratio's though.

I hope this help's answer your questions. I am still learning about the different steering boxes myself.
