Hi, I'm another "new guy" although I joined around a year or more ago. Just haven't posted yet. I have a '99 Bravada, Platinum Edition. Had around 124K miles on it when I bought it in July '14, now it's up to over 163K miles. Have had the usual maintenance issues such as brakes and most fluids are leaking, although I can get over 4K miles on an oil change without having to refill the oil. Most recently, I think I've trashed my rear end. The rear u-joint first went out, causing both vibration as well as noise that covered the slowly increasing rear gear whine as the rear diff slowly went dry. Then I got the u-joint replaced and realized the noise was actually gear noise from the rear. By the time I refilled the diff, it was too late: now the rear end sounds like a moderately-loud train whistle

Soon after I bought the Bravada, I'd refilled the front diff and changed the transfer case oil to the blue GM stuff... the old transfer case oil looked fairly clear and I don't think it was ever changed. I've had both P0310 SES lights (transfer case motor, this is erratic and never stays long) and the dreaded P0440 emissions evaporative error code. I strongly suspect this is caused by a leaking fuel tank vacuum line and hope to find a warm weekend to fix. I've noticed folks talking about a flap in the rear wheel well behind which the charcoal fume canister is hidden; I haven't look hard but don't recall seeing this "flap" in my left rear wheelwell. Most likely, the canister is full of gas because I'm one of those who always filled the gas tank right up to the end of the filler pipe... and the other day, while looking up "P0440 code" on this site, I finally found out one cannot do that without getting that canister filled with gas Learn something new evert day...
