Default Brake Failure - Rough Idle

Having an intermittent rough idle that sometimes completely stalls. Each time rough idle starts I lose power brakes (not just when stalled) If I remove the Brake Booster Vac line...Engine runs smoothly...Any tips???

Welcome!

Does it only happen randomly? You might have a bad booster and it's creating a vacuum leak.

Do you hear a hissing sound from within the dash when you press the brakes? A hissing could indicate a bad booster, otherwise it sounds like you have a leak at the vacuum line under the hood going to the booster. There is also the possibility of a failure at the check valve where the vacuum line connects to the booster. I would also check your brake fluid level. A leak in your master cylinder can cause the diaphragm to fail inside the booster.

It also helps a LOT to know what year, make, model etc. Most have that info in their sigs.
How are the HVAC controls? When you switch it to defrost can you still feel air being blown through a vent or to the floor? If so then you for sure have a vacuum leak. Like everyone has said there seems to be a vacuum leak somewhere & finding it, replacing the offending line should sure that issue. Or like Ogre said it may be a bad booster. Check out the vacuum lines 1st. Run the engine & spray brake cleaner over the lines. If the idle changes, VOILA you've found a leaky line. Cracked tee's are another issue when they get old.
