Dear Blazer Forum; I can't believe this happened to me...
Ok I couldn't resist that for the opening of my first post here! But seriously, I just recently joined and wanted to introduce myself and my ride. I'm Dave, retired, and just recently came across an ad in FB Marketplace for a 1994 Blazer. It's got 207K on the clock, but you would never know it. I'm the 3rd owner. The 2nd owner only had it for a year. Being a truck with that many miles, it had items that needed attention. The 2nd owner had no automotive knowledge and no money to have repairs made, so he decided to "scrap" the truck. Too bad for him, and lucky for me. The owner of the salvage yard that purchased the truck decided that it was WAY to nice to part out, and decided to sell it whole. After talking to the owner of the yard, I discovered it had a 15K mile Jasper engine in it, but was non running due to an injection issue. I went to look at the truck (with $1200.00 in my pocket) and discovered this truck has ZERO rust anywhere, and that includes the entire undercarriage! The interior looked like a 20K mile truck. I was beyond impressed, and needless to say, I bought it on the spot. For an additional $100.00, the yard delivered it to my house. I thought that was a good deal as the yard was about 60 miles away. So, $1300.00 later, I owned this '94 Blazer.
In the glove box, I found all of the original paperwork (including the window sticker) from the original owner, including a little black notebook with all of the maintenance from new to 198K miles. He took the truck to Chevrolet to have all of the maintenance and service done. It was well taken care of for sure.
I took care of the spider injection issue ($20.00 fix) along with a laundry list of other items, and here's how she looks today. This truck runs and handles like new, and absolutely everything works! I can post some pics of the underside later if anyone is interested.
This is one cean ride!! Very impressed!! And you cannot beat that price!! I would love to see more, including engine bay and undercarriage lol.. I'm a sucker for pics
Thanks guys! It's clean, that's got sure. Here are some pics of the undercarriage and under-hood. The rear driveshaft and trans cross-member are even still shiny black..no rust. Even the rear diff. cover is clean. Hard to believe this has been an Indiana track all of it's life, but it's true. Being this clean really makes working on this truck much more enjoyable---fasteners come right off without a fight.
Well, I posted more pictures earlier but they are not showing up (???) I got some message right after I hit reply saying a moderator had to approve my post before it would be visible. Never heard of that before...So I guess we wait.
I'm impressed. For Indiana that is a nice looking undercarriage. Coming from upstate NY I know what the salt they put on the roads in winter can do to the underside of vehicles. That almost looks like a Texas truck.
Thanks guys! While I was waiting for my front door belt-line moldings to get in (aka window sweeps), I did a little more polishing and detailing to the truck. I actually installed the sweeps this morning. I've pretty much got it dialed in to where I'm happy with it. Here's a couple of pics to try to highlight the shine. White has got to be one of THE hardest colors to showcase in photos, but here's my attempt at it anyhow.
And yes, it will continue to enjoy indoor parking!
Wow this is a pretty little truck i have a 01 blazer and have put maybe 4000 into it and Love it i use it for everything i took out the rear seats and installed a bed with storage under it i guess i need to post some pics
