as far as the locksmith goes upon tearing apart my stearing column cave man styley i found that the linkage to the tumbler switch was busted so a working key would have done me no good at the time and as far as the expense goes I just blew 550 bucks on a chevy if i spend to much more right now i'll buy myself a divorce.

LOL. Just get the steering wheel unlocked and use a push button starter that "might" save ya.
