Default Getting my first Chevy Blazer year 2000 in two days!!

I am getting my first car. ever. and itts going to be a 2000 chevy blazer 4 door. Blood red haha. Anyways I want to go and install a nice stereo right away and the first thing I want to do is remove my actual stereo and replace it with a sony or jvc. However I keep reading that the chevy blazer has a 1.5 d for the stereo which are uncommon and i want to find a kit that will let me make it 1d or 2 inches so more popular stereos will fit and look nice. Can anyone reccomend any kits for this?

Welcome to the forum. If you go to a local car audio shop or even a best buy you can find instal kits to put in a shorter aftermarket deck. Good luck.

I've avoided changing the radio because I hate those slabs of plastic that places like Best Buy use to get a normal radio to fit. Finally found something that doesn't annoy me, a "DIN pocket" (Metra seems to be the primary source for the things). It looks just about the right size to hold 2 or 3 CD's. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's using what would otherwise be wasted space.
Amazon has some, but I had to go to Metra to find what the right model would be

Here is the one I think would work. Now I just need to find a radio I like.

Depending on what you want to do with the stereo, Pioneer made a 1.5 DIN for GM cars that is a direct fit. You can find them used on Ebay. DEH P47DH or DEH P77DH. Below is a link. This is what I installed in my 89 Jimmy.
