Hey
New here, thanks for having me. Just purchased a 1998 blazer ls. Previous owner pretty much just let things go on it. I got it for 900.00 and put 460 into it. New spider, 1 brake line, both rear calipers and e brake cable, idler arm and pitman arm and also both sway bar links. I did all the work myself which saved me a few in labor. Found this forum searhing for a few answers and it helped a lot. Now questions, are there any issues with the tranny on these and any common problems with the truck overall?
Howdy. In the bigger scheme of things the transmission is not a troublemaker.
Here's the first thing you need to know:
AC Delco or Delphi brand for replacement parts, especially electrical, ONLY. And WAY IMPORTANT when that fuel pump goes out.
Ignore this and chances are you will come back and say 'should'a listened!'
- You can use NGK plugs if you like to be exotic. They make the AC Delco's
Second is keep an eye on your coolant and oil. Lower intake manifold gaskets will fail. May have already on yours depending on mileage. Use Felpro metal bound gaskets only.
When the LIM gaskets fail you WILL get coolant in your oil, and if you dont catch it quick you will damage your engine.
Note the bolt torque reqs on the intake may surprise you.. so if/when you do the LIM look them up and pay attention.
I suggest you pay attention to the help requests on here and follow them.

Amazing how some people can be on here for two years or more and seem blindsided when common fails happen, because all they cared about was lifts and mods.
And most important get to know your truck while it's running good. That goes down to even listening to the exhaust note as it's idling in your driveway. You can tell a lot from that.
Most of the above I have a feeling you already know or understand, you seem to have a feel or you would have been on here asking.

Thanks for the maf cleaning link, that `ll be be on my to do list, And I did put ngk plugs in it and changed the oil aredy and it looked coolant free. One more thing didnt put in the original post is that I baby my vehicles, no lead foot, parts are expensive and I have 3 kids. ( but they do like getting the truck muddy!)

The tell-tale on coolant leakage is to pull your dipstick and oil filler cap and examine them for a milky brown residue. this can also occur from too short driving cycles but certainly should be paid attention
