Default HI TO ALL FROM BRUM

Hi all, I'm Phil and just joined the forum. i've had my 2001 LS since last November and have just had it back from the following some brakes remedial work. I only had it for a week and the front left caliper fell off!! The dealer had told me that the brakes had been serviced before i bought it - he just didn't know someone forgot to retighten the caliper bolts!! Luckily we were only doing 25 in Aberystwyth townand not 85 on the motorway or any speed in the mountains on the way to Aberystwyth!!The truck is, of course, the best i've ever had apart from those small teething troubles. I'm now waiting for a call from my local tyre place to tell me that my new 30x9.50 ATsare ready to fit. I had noticed that the truck seems to skate and shimmy a little (especially on snow and ice) so Ihope replacing the standard road tyres will make me a litttle more stable.Brum is the Brit nickname for Birmingham West Midlands which makes me a Brummy. I have really enjoyed and appreciated all that I have read so far on the forum. I have to say that I have rarely felt someone almost'gritting their teeth' whilst writing in responce to certain 'queries' that have appeared on the site! Full marks to all who make the effort to share their knowledge and experiences though the medium of the forums. Greetings from Brummy Phil

I have to admit to being very naive this time. Up to this buy I always spent time crawling over and under every car/truck I bought. This time I was suckered - I actually asked whether it had been serviced/checked and whether I needed to do my usual checks before using it on a fairly long trip (for the UK!) I was then silly enough to believe the assurances. Once bitten twice shy!! Fool me once........................... Thanks for your input. I guess my old Corps motto fits the bill - Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense [:-]Regards,Phil

That's about right. I put my trust in the dealer and didn't question his assurance that all was in order. Just like those knights of old were encouraged to not question the King's motives (for wearing that garter). I just learned the lesson again - allthough you may feel bad (shamed) - don't believe all you see or hear without checking. It would be great to be able to put your trust in other people's thoroughness and not question motives or have to double check. Great truck, I looked at some of your pics and the video. Shame the vid wasn't as hi-def as you wanted. Your truck looks and sounds a real brute!. My wife and I both think you have a new #1 in you lives (Alex).Regards,Phil

Welcome from another right hand drive Blazerer. I'm ex UK. (Surrey & East Sussex). Been in NZ since 2001.
I too, had been taken for a ride by the local car yard. It took me a year before I had the opportunity to use the 4wd only to find the transfer case was shot. Fortunately the extended warrenty paid for a replacement & as you may have read in the off roading section I had a ball in the forest. Even impressed the local Land Rover Club who were there at the time.
