Default Low Fuel or Not?

In my 2001 Blazer TrailBlazer, I have a 1/4 tank and all the sudden the low fuel light is on and I'm almost empty. Then next time I start it up I've got 1/4 tank again.

I have the digital display inbetween the visors that tells me I have so many miles left before I run out of gas. I'm useing my cruise control going down the highway. It says I have 40 miles to go and all the sudden I'm out of gas. Luckily I was only 2 miles from a gas station and got a ride from someone with a gas can.

So is this a sensor problem? Sending Unit? Or just Blazer quirks?

Could be a bad float in the tank, my 01 did this and I had a shop drop the tank and replace the float and it was all good.

I get that too, I usually have about 12 litres left when it says I'm out off gas.

for the first month I owned it, I thought it was a 60 litre tank
