Ok, go easy on me guys I'm very uneducated in this sort of thing. Most I've done is an oil change...
Anywho, couple months ago I bought a 2001 Blazer. It's automatic, has had a couple mods... if you will.
the rear end is from a full size vehicle, the front end is probably the original (I'll try and include a pic)
I would like the front end to come out like the back.
I was wondering how in the heck I'm supposed to find a compatible vehicle (junk yard?) Or what steps I can take as a noob, I really have no idea and don't want to get taken advantage of.
I had taken it to get tires and the guys told me its got a few problems...idler arm, passenger front wheel bearing, driver front control arm, bushings... etc. It needs an alignment BAD, but I can't do that until I get the front end situated... kinda the only vehicle I have right now, and I need to be able to take my kids to their appointments so hopefully someone here can give me an idea of how long/how much/where/ and if I could do any of this kind of work myself... thanks in advance!
I guess the first question is why do you want the front to stick out from the wheel wells? If it's a matter of asthetics to match front and back, it's cheaper to make the rear "normal" under the wheel wells.
Are you looking to keep the front IFS or looking to slap an axle under it?
If your going the axle way, there's cutting and welding and oher things needed. If your keeping it IFS, I'm not too sure ud be able to fit anything full size under there....
The only real non-expensive you have is to put spacers up front or new wheels with less back space. Doing either one of those "fixes" will also cause premature wear on the parts you will be replacing, but they will move your wheels out. Trying to put another front end on the vehicle will be costly and will require a whole lot of very exact geometry with the right parts and suspension points.
Or do what Dave said and put the right rear end in there. You don't mention whether you have 2 or 4WD, but if 4WD you want to make sure you get a rear end with the same gear ratio. With 2WD it is not a big deal but if you don't replace with the same gear ratio it will throw your speedometer off which will more than likely disable you ABS. Don't worry too much about trying to find the right rear axle, the junk yards have plenty of them and it shouldn't cost too much. Probably less than rebuilding the front end, which you will still have to do.

Arg. Sorry I meant to say, it is two wheel drive. I was looking to make it 4wd, even had a junk blazer I was going to get the parts from to do so but they were trying to jip me. The guy who sold us the truck also gave us a manual transmission, it's hanging out in the back. When I bought this truck there were bigger wheels, and when I turned it cut into the body. It also had mud tires on the back, and I do belive the spare is larger (it came with the truck, and its actually not even a good spare.) I think the original wheels were 33s and now I'm riding on 31s. I know its not going to be cheap, and I'm not really going for it to just "look" a way. We live in BFE and have a lot of sandy/muddy drive ways so I want my truck to be able to handle situations my pathfinder (rip) definitely couldn't handle lol
