Default NEW to Forum 27-ZR2

Hey Guys,
I'm New to the Forum my name is Lee and I'm the proud owner of a 21 year old 1998 Blazer ZR2 I bought New in Phoenix Arizona in late 1997. Our Blazer was the very first one delivered to Arizona in 97 and there was a large production gap after we got ours, because the Linden New Jersey GM plant where ZR2s were being built, went on UAW Strike.

Fast forward 2018, We just got mostly done with a freshen up restoration attempting to up-date a few of the styling points to modernize our Blazer a little bit. For my money the best upgrade we did are the new 275-50-ZR20 Michelin performance tires mounted on Millenia 20 X 9 custom wheels. These tires are close to Camaro SS factory spec and really make our little ZR2 handle.

Just added these 3 photos I took today, just ahead of the rain.

Look forward to seeing all your Great Blazers and sharing info. Regards - Lee

Welcome, great looking truck.

It appears you took your spare tire carrier off, while I am attempting to put one on..

Thanks for the Welcome guys, I appreciate it, TGIF too.

N. Jensen, if you never had a tire rack on Before you're in for a challenge. My body and paint guy didn't even want to try to fill the tire rack mounting holes ( enlarge photo) due to the massive internal lugs and backing Inside the body corner designed to support the tire & assembly weight bouncing around.

Also, I knew I might be able to sell the rack when I took it off and I have 5 matching Center-lines with 31 X 10.50 X 15 Michelin LTXs with about 80% left on them but they're sitting in the shop because I didn't want to hassle over condition and with trying to ship them some where, you know the normal on-line sales BS.

Good luck with your Truck and projects Regards - Lee

The tire carrier mod is something I learned about on this forum...the whole write up is on here. Now just the fun part of installing (when I have time) is left.

I say paint those former carrier t-50 torx bolts Summit white, screw them back in, and no one will hardly notice them on that rear fender.

That's a good idea. Never thought about that with the screws. I've seen so many people just leave them out. I would fill the back of the whole with a silicone, then step three bonds the front of the holes, then paint the back panel.

We put them All back in and painted the ones on the Tail Gate white, but left the big black ones on the corner, black. Kinda liked the "industrial look" like big rivets.
