Hi all, a friend of mine just recently bought a 86 K5 blazer and he and I will be working on it along with driving it this winter. He picked the blazer up for $800 and its in decent shape. It has a 350 that has a carb on it, 700R4 trans, 33x12.50x15 tires (Brand new) and a telephone pole for a front bumper. The motor in is solid and very strong. Has headers with glass packs and sounds pretty good. When we got it home we painted it desert tan and blacked out the mirrors and bumper, and the hood and it looks pretty cool.
The bad: The rockers are gone but the previous owner had new rocker panels that came with it, the tailgate is rusted pretty bad and the trans has a bad set of clutches in it. I am currently rebuilding the trans which is a 93 700R4.
I will most likely have quite a few questions while working on the blazer. This is something new for me, I am usually working on Oldsmobiles. I am currently building a 87 Cutlass supreme, car will have a 72 olds 350 that has been built up, a TH375b trans and a 2.56 rear gear for now.
