The new guy from Ohio...
Hey all, I just joined the other day, because I just bought my 1996 4dr 4x4 blazer. I live in Ohio, I'm 19, and love anything with an engine to work on. The blazer I bought because I wanted a 4x4 for what's supposed to be "the worst winter on history," yet still no snow. It's got 186k on it, but runs decent. A few simpler things to fix on it, but big plans.
Originally, I was going to have a 4x4 for the winter, and sell whatever it was after accruing enough money to buy a subie, but after working on my blazer a bit, I'm not sure if that's my plan any more. I really love it thus far, and working on it is easy, for the most part, compared to my civic's and jetta's I've owned. Also, the 4x4 is something I'm attracted to, as well as mudding, it's a favorite hobby going with friends. xD I think when I decide to keep it, I'll drop a 350, or a 303 from a ford into it, solid axle swap, etc. But that will be this summer =)
I plan on lifting it, putting some cragar soft 8's with nice rubber on 'em, light bars, roof rack, brush guard, etc. I just love the look.
It has no rust, and the only thing that is truly wrong with it is that it has a misfire on cylinder 1, but I'm tending to that currently.
Also, the actuator is shot for 4x4, but I hate electronic vacuum systems, so I'm changing it to the posi lock cable driven 4x4 soon =)
As for the "build," that will be slow going. I attend school full time, and my girlfriend hates when I put a ton of money into cars that's not "needed."
But no worries..... =)
Anywho, glad to be here everyone!
**on another note, I love how I've seen everyone loving all cars, not just Blazers on here. On the jetta or civic forums, all they do is bash anything that's not crap import. Keep it up.
