Hey All. I got an 89 s10 blazer 4x4 4.3L. I got It it had alot of body rot in the normal places, aka in front and behind rear wheel. I did all the body work and the truck look mint other than the front bumper and driver front fender are unrepairable. But the truck is tired it has 130,000 on it and is a smoker. I was thinking about buying a remanufactured long block and swap it out. Is it worth it to replace the v6? or should I put a v8 in it?

That old of a truck, I would not think twice about dropping in a v8.

Check out JagsThatRun.com. They literally wrote the book on S-series v8 swaps.

there's no question.

used 350=~2k plus install
new re manufactured long block 4.3=2500-3k plus install

or get a gm crate 350 for that matter. anywhere from 2k up depending on how much power/ fuel delivery.

I found a place that will send me a reman 4.3l long block for 1100 shipped. I rather keep a 4.3l in it I really dont have the time for a v8 swap or much money. haha. Its my everyday commuter and I would have to push for a weekend swap. I can always get a preformer tbi intake and a set of headers off summit. Im not looking for crazy hp though I can prboally squeeze 230 hp outta a 4.3l without to much trouble. Has anyone built a 4.3l im looking for a few pointers.

Im yet to get some before and after pics up for body work wise. I had to change out my gas tank last weekend cause the seam started leaking...... and my gas lines rotted out.... and my rear brake lines. haha. I think a previous owner pulled boats out with it cause the back half of the truck had a good amount of rust. I cleaned it all up and primered and under coated the back half of the truck.

ok my last car was an 89 firebird with a 350 5.7l tpi motor. I wanted to put this entire set up in my truck but im not sure how long it will take. I know ill have to get new motor mounts and a different oil pan cause of the cross member. Ill need a higher volume fuel pump, and my exshaust. I have the wiring harness from the firebird and the computer. Is there anyone that can tell me wat im going to get myself into if i do this? there cant be alot of down time so i would have to do it in a weekend with a few people. This is why I was just going to replace the exsisting 4.3l v6 with a reman long block. I know there books like jagsthatrun ive seen them online. but how much hassle is it? Is there and know problems i might come across?
