Hi All,
I picked up the Blazer several years ago. It's a nice looking vehicle (black) and drives smoothly now that the rear wheel bearings are replaced.
Multiple problems to fix such as fuel gauge only reads full, ABS and Security lights on (I've only just learned they are separate warnings!), check engine light (code says filler cap - emissions leak), a non-functioning parking brake, and, the big daddy, coolant leak from right-bank inlet manifold, or so I'm told. So, lots to do. Am very curious, however, about the post on converting the cigarette lighter to a switch. Can anyone tell me how to remove the ni-chrome coil?
Nice to be here.

Regarding the parking brake, it is possible the issue is one of adjusting the parking break shoes. This being an issue is not surprising to me since your rear bearings were replaced. Even my local dealer shop couldn't figure out how to adjust them. (BTW, that was the last time I used the dealer.)

Hi Christine,
Thanks for the swift reply. The handbrake problem was there from when I purchased the Blazer. It seems the cables are crimped and therefore not sliding as they ought.
My urgent problem now is to try to get back onto the Forum. My UN/PW wasn't accepted this morning and I am now in a reset UN/PW loop. If you get this it will be a miracle.

Talking about dealers, I've been watching a Vlogger, if that is the correct term, called DiagnoseDan. I find he helps to clear my thinking about how to approach auto problems. He had one video about a lit ABS check light (it seems it's the right front sensor that has the most failures) in which he had not one but two bad replacement sensors new out of the box before he went with an OEM part. He made a case that OEM parts, presumably from the dealer, are much more reliable replacements. That said, my experience of a replacement fuel pump and tank level sensor for the Blazer being quoted by the dealer at $CAN750*, and the EBay visually identical part for $CAN175 did give me pause.
Brit
*To be frank, he did almost immediately discount it down to $550...such a deal!
