Be careful, we did AZ back in 1981. We were in the Verde Valley (south of Sedona in a little backwater place called Camp Verde). We moved back to CA in 1984. Both of my daughters and my wife had problems with allergies that cropped up after we were there about 7 months. My older daughter missed about 55 days of school in K, 1 & 2. After we moved back to CA, she only missed 5 days due to illness. We were north of Phoenix about 90 miles. I understand the Phoenix area is worse than where we were living.

You might be OK. The number one thing my daughter was allergic to was Russian Thistle, aka Tumbleweed.
My wife has family in Bakersfield and I had family in Visalia and Madera. Know the area well.
