new member, third chevy, first blazer
Hello everyone, I just bought a 97 blazer last night. I owned a 98 s10 pickup 4x4 once before so i have high expectations for this truck. it needs a lot of work so im starting my research online. just wanted to introduce myself to the forum before i started posting away.

thanks for the welcomes. bad news though, i bought the truck at night time with a flash light to check it out and it ran excellent but now that ive got to check it out in the day it looks like either the head gasket is shot or it was once before. i dont see coolant in the oil but there is gunk in the radiator and reservoir. not good. going to start doing research on that before i dive into anything else.

murphy, it needs rear wiper motor, ball joints(215000 miles on original ball joints, still riveted in), idler arm, pitman, gear box, that little rag washer, bushings in front cant remember the name, thermostat, and looking like an intake or head gasket now. heat/ac blower was not working when i bought it, fixed with a new fuse. the front wipers were not working, adjusted and tightened the nuts on top and they work now.

Ouch, I just had a few of those problems fixed. I thought I had a lot of problems, but your list puts mine to shame. Good luck though!

well finally it didnt rain today! drained oil and no antifreeze in the oil, cleaned out the coolant reservoir and drained coolant out of radiator, changed thermostat while i was at it and filled back up. gonna take it for a drive here in a few and see what it looks like after a few miles.
