Red face New Member and Wheel ?

I purchased a 1995 blazer a few weeks ago as I lost my vehicle in September. Before that I had a 1999 Pathfinder that I absolutely loved and had for over 20 years until a girl couldn't get off her phone to stop at a stop sign. Annnnyway, I grew up working on cars with my dad and had done all my own work on my Pathfinder so I thought this was right up my alley. It only has 118,000 miles and a rebuilt transmission done a year before. But I didn't think A) I now live in an apartment complex so I can't work on it here and B) every parts store I call most of the parts I can't order. I had to pay $600 for a rebuilt cpi assembly where just a year later the one they use is new and half the price. I have an appointment the 13th to pay another almost $250 to have it installed.
So my current dilemma while I wait is NOBODY I've called have any size of 15" used tire and I only need one. The tread on the tires is pretty great but one is dry-rotted bad. I know pretty much nothing about tires. I had a place I always went before that would tell me options other than what was currently on it but maybe he was just busy but he only looked specifically for the 235/75/15 and had no used and wanted $135 for a new one. Everyone else said they didn't have 15" period. So, can I change my actual wheel size to something less seemingly obsolete size? I'm assuming it would be better to go with a larger rim and I know the 16"s I had on my Pathfinder I never had an issue getting tires.
There is a litany of things that need to be done on it but being able to go above 10mph up a hill and not worrying about the tire blowing, it doesn't have a spare, are my more immediate. I think Helene is why the used vehicle market plummeted here and I got double pneumonia walking to and from a third shift job. lol At least "baby swamp monster" gets me to work and back. We're both old, barely running but we limp through it

Welcome to the group. This is where you want to be to keep your Blazer going.

As for wheel sizes, what you describe is about right. I asked a few years ago of my tire shop if they had any 15" used tires I could use as a spare and I was told they just don't sell that size much any longer. Ordering new 15" tires shouldn't be a problem though.

If you do go with new wheels, use the calculators and data at tiresize.com and wheel-size.com to see what fits and that you get wheels with the correct offset.

I would think going the new wheels route would be more expensive though.

While looking on Marketplace for used tires I saw lots of larger size sets of 4 that were being sold with the wheel included. So that would be a start to have better chances later. If I get just 1 new tire for this it's almost half of what I'm seeing those used sets for. In my thinking...if it's hard to find 15" used they're not even being sold new as often as other sizes. But I may be wrong in how I'm looking at it. That being said I've seen a lot more options over in Tennessee or way further east of where I am in NC. As dry-rotted as the one tire is I'm scared every time I put a little bit of air in it to drive the 1/2 mile to work and back.
I really wish my dad didn't have dementia so I could bounce all this around with him. This was our thing. Me being always "in the way" working on a vehicle. Him complaining about my questions, I always wanted to know how it worked and why it worked, but sitting later talking about what we could do. He always said I was as close to having a son without having a son as he could get. lol And he does have son-in-laws.
The place doing my injector said they'll give it a good look over for free to see what else needs urgent attention. I know the power steering pump and I'm pretty sure the brake fluid got contaminated, overheated and warped the master cylinder reservoir. The electrical issues are more annoying than a problem. Most of the interior lights decide if they'll turn on or not. The stereo resets every time the engine is turned off.
I also need to get a camera put in it asap. I know she's old and the body is rough but the kid that keyed my Kia I just lost has already keyed this one and broke the side view mirror. Things only happen to my vehicle when he's here visiting his dad and the complex's video system is so grainy they can't say definitively it's him. It's when he's here that lots of people down on this end have broken windshields, dented vehicles, and packages stolen. I refuse to pay someone to wire a system in so I'm looking at just one of those that mount inside, even though their field of view is less. And I'm a smoker so my youngest son and I have been playing with the idea of removing a divider in the tape holder of the console and making that a place to keep my pack since I refuse to go to our old place to look for a cassette lol.
I've been browsing the forum since I bought it and have been scouring for ideas of what I can do to it. Figured I may as well actually join and ask people
