im getting my dad's old '98 S10 blazer soon, its for my wife to replace her worn-out '93 taurus. this blazer has over 150K miles but a newer trans and hopefully not near the mechanical issues ive been having with the taurus. my truck is a '93 ranger. we did have a '87 astro when we first got married so i am familar with the 4.3 engine. and even as a "ford guy" i will admit that a 4.3 is a much better engine than ford's 4.0 the best thing i can think of with the blazer is that it will be a better tow vehicle than the taurus, and possibly better than my ranger, my wife does craft shows in the fall, and i regualy pull a 6x10 enclosed cargo trailer with the ranger. while the car was set up with a hitch, i never pulled with it, given the history of the taurus car spitting out transmissions at the 100K mark without pulling anything. this '98 is a 4x4, has the floor-shift automatic, dont recall what trim level it is nor do i know what gear ratio it has, i would assume 3.73's. dad says hes gotton 23 with it on a highway trip before, seems weird that it does so well on fuel considering my '93 ranger 4.0 with 3.73's gets only 19 at very best, must be a thing between cub weight/areodynamics. both my ranger and this blazer run 235-15 tires. hopefully this vehicle will be a good move, if not at least theres plenty of them in junkyards to get parts from, the taurus is getting hard to get junkyard parts for, they must be melting all the scrap ones down and making tuna cans from them...........heres my "other ride": http://www.myspace.com/small_dog_trucking
