How yall doin, new fella to this particular forum. Just bought my first Blazer, but I am not new to Blazers. It is a 79 K5, and the engine under the hood is the first engine my buddies and I ever had the joy to rebuild. What was a friend of mine's first set of wheels in High school about 9 years ago, is now mine. Though, now it is in the worst shape imaginable. I will get some pics sometime, as it is sitting in his driveway about 20 miles from my place.
I bought it from my younger brother, who is a hoodlum, and him and his friends busted the hell out of this thing. He bought it from my buddy in 2004, for $1300, and I got it off him for $400.
What it has:
350 SBC gone .30 over to 355 ci. The internals are stock, aside from an RV cam, 202 heads off a Camaro, and an Edelbrock 795 CFM QJ.
The tranny is a stock TH350, which according to my buddy, needs to be replaced, as it has NO *****. The blazer is sluggish, but shifts fine, which has me thinking the TC is shot.
2 inch blocks in the rear, and and add a leaf up front.
There is no exhaust on it at all, just manifolds, and the pipes are cut off just after the bend.
The steering column is busted, the ignition is cut out, and its starts by pushing the rod in on the column.
No windshield, No front driveshaft, no window cranks, no inner fender liners under the hood, no battery, and LOL, no Ground cable.
The paint is crap. My white trash buddy painted it Desert Camo when we were in high school. The body is in great shape though, just a little rust on the driver side front fender, and my dumb brother kicked the passenger door, so there is a huge dent and a size 13 footprint.
But the Engine is a BEAST. That is the only thing this thing has going for it, and the reason I bought it. It only has about 100 miles put on it in the past 6 years.
What is going to be done-
TCI HD TH350 transmission and TC, a set of headers, a 3 inch single exit exhaust tucked up high, 4 inch soft lift, 33 or 35 inch tires (haven't decided,) flat black paint job, gut and then herculiner the interior, custom front and rear bumper, a set of 4 recesses KC's in the front bumper, and 4 bucket seats throughout. No luxuries except for the radio. Just a purpose built, Desert Rat off road rig.
