the 4.3 swap is simple, just need an engine & trans/t-case. there is even an aftermarket intake for the 4.3 (from Edelbrock, i think), so you don't need to get a truck with the wiring harness for the computer.

you mention that your family has owned the truck since new, what are the backing plates like? if they're really worn where the shoes sit, it can cause the brakes to "grab" in the grooves.
Thanks! I'd never thought of that causing the brakes to grab. I'll check them out. I also saw an intake for the 2.8L in summit. It's a two piece deal. The upper parts are for either a 2 or 4 barrel carb respectively. Thanks for the info.

Pics I took this morning

89,266 original miles. It has less mileage than my Mazda lol.
Inmediate plans for it are bolting back teh parts that it has laying around, since it's been parked for two years. It's funny bec. there's nothing wrong with it. It was stopped to replace a persistent leak on the transmissions pump. That was done three times already by my grandpa, my dad and later me and my dad. Upon closer inspection, the pump itself was the culprit bec it scored the seal area of the torque converter and I replaced both of them. It has remained unfinished since that time. Just needs to bolt back the front driveshaft, center console w the 4wd lever, the tv cable to be correctly routed back up, and the air cleaner w hoses and the radio bezel w a radio. All that happened when both of my parents fell ill and I didn't had the time to put it back toghether since then I took charge of everything in the house. Now they are better, thank God. In appreciation for that, my father gave the truck to me. Love ya Dad!
