Pittsburgh Pa checking in, 182K miles and counting.
Hello all. So I bought a fairly high mileage 1998 Blazer 4x4 with the 4.3L Vortec V6 some time back and have been working on it since. I've found (and used) some good info from this forum, so I decided I'd join and maybe I could be of help to someone else. I am by no means a mechanic, but I am a handy DIY type of guy all around, and I DO have a fair amount of knowledge as far as electronics, DC power, audio systems, etc, so who knows??
The engine runs really well, especially considering the age/mileage and the weather we get around here (along with MASS salting in the winter), so I've been slowly fixing other items as needed. New shocks all around would be great, but not exactly in the budget right now.
So far I've done (or gotten help with) the following:
Upper/Lower Ball Joints, both sides
Inner/Outer Tie Rods, both sides
Passenger Side CV Axle/Sleeve
Wheel Bearings, both sides
Front End Alignment
Premium Air Filter
Distributor Cap & Rotor
Spark Plugs & Silicone Plug Wires
PCV Valve & Tube/Hose elbow
There she is... Old reliable Betsy the Blazer.
