Rear wiper issues 1998 blazer
Hello,
Curious, when I turn on the rear wiper it shutters, jumps up and sits down and turns off. I first thought maybe the motor was bad, jammed gear box? So I stopped by a local junk yard found a 1997 Jimmy same setup R&R the motor assy complete, came home traded it out, same problem???? Any ideas?

Have you checked the voltage and wiring to the rear wiper? It seems unlikely that both would have the same issue. Perhaps there is not enough current going to the wiper. That could happen if the wire supplying the +12V has been damaged.

Hey Christine 208
Thank you for your response, and yes voltage drop and bad grounds are very common. So here's what I found. As I continued to look for other ideas, I saw where someone said becareful when installing the motor assy that you don't over tighten the arm on the drive shaft. Apparently it 4 ft lbs ? basically just snug. Plus I did see blue lock tight on the shaft so..... I had done a hard yarn on it very tight. Went and took it off motor ran fine, reinstalled with a gentle snug works great and some blue lock tight. So correct torque specs do matter.. One last thing I also noticed it was kinda catching on the bottom edge of the glass. I saw where someone used a bottle cap as a spacer????? well what I used was a 1 inch piece of Heater hose 3/4 ID gave a quick stretch and heat up on the heat gun stretched it over the arm where it rests on the tailgate holder and it worked great. Thanks again. hope this helps someone.
