Default Thunderbuggy

The "Thunderbuggy" is my old "74 K-5, that I bought in 1976, to celebrate the dissolution of my first marriage. 45 years, and 2 wives since, we're still together! He is much modified, I am a master mechanic, and a steel fabricator, and there's not much of him that hasn't been touched. Front to rear, an 8000 lb. classic warn winch is mounted to the front, via a dump truck bed hinge, that allows the winch and front doghouse to tilt, like a semi truck. Under chassis, rollers and guides allow reverse winching, with a rear roller guide. I pre-string the winchline front to rear, BEFORE wheeling, (A story there, If you can imagine). Two Red top dry batteries ride in a battery box above the RF tire, along wit the compressed air system. An atache' case was repurposed as an electrical center, and mounted to the driver fender well. A HD alternator feeds those red tops, with a in cab Caterpillar type battery switch, for emergency disconnect.( Another story, there). An hour meter is mounted, for maintenance intervals. A gearbox vent system raises all gearbox vent lines to 4 feet, to prevent water incursions to the diffs, TC and tranny. (Dayum, another story!) A adequate 468 CI. Big block supplies motivation, wink, wink, Hooker Headers, turbo muffies quiet things down, through 2.5 inch exhaust, frenched through the body. A TH350 spins through a cast iron TC, spinning 3.73s with a Tru-Track Dana 44 front diff, an air locker in the rear 12 bolt. A 45 gallon fuel tank stores cheese, for that hungry rat motor. A 6 point cage graces the interior, with overhead electrical switch panel. Strato buckets, and harnesses keep everyone seated.

I don't have a thing from my first marriage (over thirty years ago) except regret for wasted time, but I believe I would have kept a K5 if I had one back then. Post up some pics!

Welcome to the Blazer Forum.

From that description I definitively want to see some pictures.

The only things I still have from my first marriage are my son and my daughter. Regrettably, I sold my '74 Blazer many moons ago, and have missed it since. So I definitely want to see pictures of this one, if only for nostalgia's sake.
