Honestly, if you just want to go fast, look for a '98-03 Camaro/Firebird with the LS1. You can find one for fairly cheap. These vehicles we all own (except for the Typhoons) were never built for speed.

Well I mean a sonoma will be a better candidate for speed becuase of the lower center of gravity and that fact that its 2wd.

They aren't built for comfort either. lol

Thats the beauty of these S10's and S10 Blazers. Consider this. The closest thing to a Typhoon is a 2 door 4wd S10 Blazer. The ZR2 Blazers are actually a better example. GM put full size truck drive line components (except for 5 lug axles) into the ZR2's to make them tougher for off road purposes, and to move bigger tires around. Even though the suspension mounting points are lower on the ZR2's, Typhoon's and Syclones have almost identical drive line parts. 85/8" rear end, big sway bars, big torsion bars, rear disc brakes. Thats a big one.

All you need to do is add the power.

Well good luck with that. My 2000 ZR2 Blazer sits a little lower, but not too low. the engine is a little bigger, and i have it set up so perfectly, that at my local oval track I can keep the left front tire off the ground all the way thru the corner. Now this also took about half of a years salary to build. But, i did it because i wanted a bad *** S10 Blazer. The fantastic cornering is 100% due to 4 link rear and coilovers all the way around. Not QA1 coil overs, I found an awesome deal on 2 penske's (rear), and 2 ohlins (front) coil over shocks from a local racer getting out of the sport.

A good place to start looking for good chassis parts is Howe Racing Products. A lot of the metric GM stuff that they produce will work if you do your home work.

Good luck.
