i live in the NE US and i have a 1st gen 4door i have to say i can go places jeeps cant, i only have a 2" body lift, stock size tires 2" shackles in the rear and cranked torsion bars i take my truck on quad trails the maneuverability is amazing IF YOU ADJUST YOUR MIRRORS AND SEAT RIGHT, but ive gone threw snow over the bottom of the doors, mud just about to the bottom of the doors, and water over the bumpers with no problem at all, my only complaint is the damm spare on the tailgate

The 2 door looks better.

First off Wranglers are not more popular than xj's. XJ's are awesome and in so many ways dominate the wrangler.
I have a 4 door and I like the longer wheelbase and having backseats you can acess easily. 4 doors have the disavantage of having a lessor turning radius and the frame hangs lower in the rear which makes you more prone to high centering.
btw I was told by a guy I know the other day that Blazers arent meant for wheeling. Then I reminded him neither is his 8,000 pound 3/4 Dodge.

OK I ran MY 4 Door off orad a few times and never had a single problem, in fact it performs very well off-road. as for the Debate between 2 and 4 door .. It really doesn't matter, I've gotten my stock 4 doors through were hopped up wranglers have failed , so yeah, doesn't matter in the slightest

well i have a 96 2door ls right now but the transmission is giving me a crap ton of problems... we had it rebuilt twice, and then swapped it with a lower mileage tranny and it still shifts like crap...(wont shift out of first til 30mph and then skips right to third) so my plan was find a blazer body that needs a motor cause my motor runs like a champ. then just to a motor swap on a body that has a good tranny and 4x4... i havent had the chance to do any real wheeling with my 96 2 door. so i just want to see how others fair with each different style... i plan on going to places like Rausch Creek and to some places like caspirus stone quarry in PA.

only if it's a ZR2.

The buggy's I go out with have roughly the same wheel base as me. And I go out with mainly TJ/YJ/CJ's... Some 4 dr cherokees and a few 2 doors. Oh and some trackers/samies. Lots of short W.B. vs. long wheel base though.
It seems to be personal preference. Go wheeling in both, and then choose. I like the 2 doors.
